Brunkål


Ingredients
  • 1 kg cabbage
  • 2 yellow onions
  • 3 tbsp of butter
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 pinches ground white pepper
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • 2 cups of broth, chicken or maybe bacon ;)

  1. Cut away the stem and shred the cabbage.
  2. Peel and slice the onions. Fry cabbage and onions with butter in a roomy saucepan until cabbage become soft, takes about 10 minutes. Season with bay leaf and pepper.
  3. Add sugar, vinegar and broth. Boil carefully on low heat uncovered until the liquid has evaporated, should take 40-50 minutes. Stir occasionally.
    Season with salt if necessary.
