Ingredients
- 1 kg cabbage
- 2 yellow onions
- 3 tbsp of butter
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 pinches ground white pepper
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white vinegar
- 2 cups of broth, chicken or maybe bacon ;)
- Cut away the stem and shred the cabbage.
- Peel and slice the onions. Fry cabbage and onions with butter in a roomy saucepan until cabbage become soft, takes about 10 minutes. Season with bay leaf and pepper.
- Add sugar, vinegar and broth. Boil carefully on low heat uncovered until the liquid has evaporated, should take 40-50 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Season with salt if necessary.
